Meet Sustaira: Maggie!
Here at Sustaira we get to know all of our employees very well and we want you to know them too! For every new team member, we ask them the following questions to learn about who they are and why sustainability matters to them. Today, we introduce Maggie Burnham. Read Maggie’s interview below and enjoy!
What does sustainability mean to you?
Sustainability to me is all about mindful action. It spreads further than just our climate but to all humans and creatures and processes. It’s an essential part of all that we do day to day and we have to commit to being intentional in what we do. For me it's not about being perfect, it's about taking even the smallest steps in the right direction. Sustainability has to be… well... Sustainable. We can’t burn out trying to fix everything, but we can always make some progress.
Where do you believe technology meets sustainability in your vision?
In my vision, technology, and sustainability must go hand in hand when it comes to truly changing the way we do things. There are arguably no limits to technology. As humans, our curiosity will always drive us to push the limits and find better, faster, smarter ways of living. If we don't apply some of that technology and the drive to learn and grow to the domain of sustainability, what will be left of the earth and our people? As I said before, Sustainability is essential in all that we do. Now, technology is too.
Tell us a little bit about you! Just a couple of fun facts or something people may not know. What do you believe people need to know about Maggie Burnham?
In my free time, I do a little bit of everything. I rock climb with my family and friends and have two little doggies who accompany me everywhere. In the summer of 2021, I bought my first home which is a forever work-in-progress (Yay fixers!). My husband and I also built our gaming computers and play online games with friends. Lastly, I consider myself an avid fisherman thanks to my dad. I think those life lessons on the river hit pretty close to home. I now want to dedicate all of my time to protecting the planet and the people on it so other humans can rig up a line, find a nice spot by the water, and learn a little bit about life and this world from someone they love.
